This is a sound-based installation developed from a field recording made in the limestone landscape of the Burren. Once an ancient seabed, the Burren’s geological layers still carry traces of marine life from 300 million years ago. While recording near Newtown Castle, I initially heard only the force of the wind, but later, other layers emerged—birdsong, the rustle of leaves, and a resonance that reminded me of waves. This echo between wind and sea revealed how past and present coexist within the terrain. The collected sounds were translated into Irish words such as gaoth (wind), tonnta (waves), éan (bird), and duilleoga (leaves). These words were then turned into moving images and projected onto limestone fragments. By projecting language onto the material of the place itself, the work creates a point of contact between sound, geology, and memory. It invites viewers to sense how landscapes speak through subtle shifts of light, texture, and time.
