This video installation is a part of the "Même si" series, created specifically for my exhibition "Eternal Recurrence" in Daejeon, my hometown. While my previous works depicted my inner strength, this installation represents that of my parents.
My father dedicated over 30 years of his life to researching chemistry, while my mother still teaches art history and occasionally contributes to a local art magazine. Their unconditional love for their children, passion for their work, and insatiable thirst for knowledge are what drive them in life, and I am forever proud and grateful to have them as my parents. The artwork was created by projecting images onto their books and plaster statues that were modeled after their upper bodies.

This video installation represents the imperfections of life and the mental strength that drives us to keep going. As humans, we are incomplete beings, full of flaws. Our bodies are fragile and easily breakable, like sculptures made of plaster. Moreover, we have a short stay in this world, and that realization can make us feel empty or discouraged. However, we also possess an inner strength that infuses hope and motivation into our lives. My strength comes from an ongoing desire for artistic creation and a mutual trust and affection with my beloved. These engines drive me to keep going and make me feel complete.
